Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign up for the WineCollective?
It’s easy, visit WineCollective.ca, create a profile and select the package you want to receive.
Do I need to sign a contract?
No way, contracts are for cell phone companies!
There are no contracts to sign, no startup fees, and no cancellation fees. Your monthly membership will automatically renew each month (gift orders will not renew), but you can cancel at any time with no obligations.
Am I eligible to join?
Currently, you can only join the WineCollective if you have a delivery address in Alberta, Canada.
We are currently working on expanding to other areas outside of Alberta, so if you are in an area where you would like exceptional wine delivered to your home or office, let us know in an email. If you live outside of Alberta you can always buy a gift for someone you know in Alberta. As well, you must be over the age of 18 in order to subscribe and there always needs to be someone over the age of 18 to receive the shipment (we ID if you appear under 25).
How are you different than any other wine of the month club?
There are a few key reasons which differentiate the WineCollective from traditional “wine of the month” clubs. The WineCollective has no initiation fees, no membership fees and no contracts to sign. You don’t need to sign up for a year and you can order as little as one monthly package (starting at around $45) as a gift for a friend or colleague.
Secondly, we ship monthly, meaning minimal waiting for your package or gift to arrive. If you order in a given month, your wine will be delivered by the middle of the following month.
Thirdly, due to WineCollective’s buying power, we offer our members a selection of wines at prices which are competitive with their retail selling prices in Alberta. However, you are getting the in-depth experience package, tasting notes and delivery included in that price! Finally, there is the advantage of WineCollective.ca’s social network where you can compare notes, track your previous wine experiences and share this information with other members.
Who chooses the wines?
The wines are selected by WineCollective's professional staff.
What are your credentials?
The partners and staff members have extensive wine experience, including WSET certification. As a team we taste dozens to hundreds of different wines on a monthly basis. We select only the best for our membership.
How am I billed?
If you have signed up for a recurring monthly package your Visa or Mastercard will be charged on a monthly basis. If you signed up for a gift, your Visa or Mastercard will be billed once.
I'm concerned about giving my credit card and personal information.
WineCollective.ca has very high privacy standards. We will never sell your information, ever. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
WineCollective.ca’s purchase system is secured with Comodo (PositiveSSL), look for the LOCK in your browser during checkout. We do not store your credit card information on file.
When can I expect my wine?
WineCollective members can expect their packages will be delivered to you the 2nd to 3rd week of each month, as long as a purchase was made in the preceding month. So remember, if you’d like a package of wine, or want a gift to be delivered next month, be sure to sign up this month.
How does delivery work?
A huge part of the WineCollective advantage is the delivery of wine to your home or office.
When your package is shipped out, around mid-month, you will receive an email with the shipping date and details. If a tracking number has been assigned you will also receive a link to track the status of your shipment online.
Once a package has shipped, it will usually reach its destination within Alberta in under 3 business days.
Someone over the age of 18, who is not inebriated, must sign for the delivery. DHL cannot leave deliveries on a doorstep if no one is home. The delivery personnel will ID anyone who appears under the age of 25. It is the law. For this reason, we strongly suggest getting your package delivered to your office.
What happens if I miss the delivery?
DHL will make 2 attempts to deliver to your shipping address. If you miss both those deliveries, you must contact DHL within a week to arrange for a third delivery attempt or to schedule a pickup from the closest DHL depot. Otherwise, DHL will ship your package back to us and you will incur a $15 re-delivery charge.
What happens if I get a bad or off bottle?
Crap! That's no fun. We're sorry.
Bad bottles are an unfortunate reality of wine world and they do occur. If you do get a bad or off bottle as part of your package, let us know within the first week after delivery and we will ensure that the bottle is replaced with the same wine or a wine of equal retail value.
Why can't I pick the type of wines contained in the packages?
The idea of joining the WineCollective is to expand your horizons and try new varietals. We know that everyone has a certain preference for wine, either in country or varietal, but we take great pride in our selection process. We are confident that you will enjoy the wines selected.
How do I cancel my membership?
We're sad to see you go.
Cancellation of your subscription can be done via your profile by logging in or clicking on the My Account link and the choosing Cancel link. Follow the prompts and your membership is canceled.
Are there penalties or fees if I want to cancel?
No penalties, no fees, no hassles. We will of course be sad to see you go and might ask you why you are cancelling, but we want our members to leave the WineCollective and look fondly back on the experience.
Does the price of the package include shipping?
Yep!
The package prices include shipping to major cities in Alberta. We can ship anywhere in the province via DHL, however additional charges may apply to rural locations.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my monthly package?
Sure, why not?
Upgrading or downgrading your packages is easy. If you have subscribed to a specific package, and wish to graduate to a higher package or step down a level, log in with your account, cancel your existing subscription and select the new package.
Keep in mind that this activity is time sensitive, meaning that if you upgrade or downgrade after the cut off at the end of each calendar month, you may still receive your existing package for the next month. Your new package will arrive the month following the date of your order. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call or send us an email and we'll work with you to make sure things are right for you.
Does the WineCollective offer a guarantee?
We are committed to your satisfaction, so committed in fact, that we guarantee our packages 100%. If you are not completely satisfied with the quality of the wines you receive, you may request a refund.
Is there anyone that I can speak to if I have additional questions or concerns?
Please feel free to contact the WineCollective office (Toll Free) at 1.855.501.WINE or by email to thecellar@winecollective.ca and we will be happy to help. Our office hours are between 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
