From Sonoma County, the vineyards for the Angels & Cowboys Rosé are found in the sub-AVA's of Carneros, Alexander Valley & Dry Creek Valley. Within the larger region of the North Coast, Sonoma County covers twice as much land as it's neighbour, Napa County, but produces half as much wine. Sonoma includes a number of diverse smaller sub-regions and each has differing varietals, from Pinot Noir to Zinfandel. Angels & Cowboys is a collaboration between Cannonball Wine Company and a California-based graphic artist, Michael Schwab. We have met with Yoav Gilat, one of the co-founders of Cannonball, on numerous occasions. You might already be familiar with the Cannonball brand, as the wines are exceptional and found readily in Alberta. Angels & Cowboys intended to "create a wine that indulges the lover, the trailblazer and the rulebreaker in all of us." Enjoy this year and chill to 6-8C.
Very pale, blush pink.
Pink grapefruit and white blossoms offer a romantic nose. We love the mixture of sweet citrus and florals. With a few more swirls there is a mixture of cranberry, wild strawberry and some minerality.
Very mineral and herbal, with more grapefruit and florals, similar to the nose. Vibrant acidity, that is well balanced with slick texture, and juicy mid-palate. A delicate wine that is very well-composed and effortless. Sometimes a wine is so enjoyable, we don't want to over-think it!
We like this wine paired with a scallop ceviche, served on a bed of endive and arugula.
