Settled in the scenic foothills of the Monterey Coast, Paris Valley Road Cellars works to craft French inspired wines that are made for the 'everyman'. The 320 acre vineyard is less affected by coastal breezes (compared to other surrounding AVAs) and summer temperatures often reach 40 degrees Celsius. Together with concentrated chalk soils, the varietials of Chalk Knoll produce intensely flavoured, mineral wines. The Founders Blend is sourced from estate vineyards across California (San Lucas, Paso Robles, Sonoma County, Napa Valley & Lodi) and the Chalk Knoll vines. Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Zinfandel (33%), with smaller amounts of Syrah, Petite Sirah and Merlot. This blend is in dedication to the Stoller family who founded the vineyard in the 1990's in partnership with Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery. The vineyards were originally planted for contracted production for the Mondavi family. Enjoy now or cellar through 2020. Drink at 17C.

Juicy cherries, reminiscent of cherry pie filling, are sweet and confectioned. There are also notes of creamy chocolate, vanilla bean, espresso and prunes. All the flavours here are rich, dense and decadent.
Big cherries dominate, creating a fruity-juicy base to lots of sweet and savoury flavours. Chewy and bold on the palate, with crunchy tannins and moderate acidity. The wine is fermented in stainless steel, then racked to French barriques (and some American for the Zin) for 17 months. The oak gives us more of the vanilla and creamy texture which blend effortlessly with the dried berries and cocoa.
This is a perfect BBQ wine, from ribs to roast. A sweet and sticky BBQ sauce will play well off of the rich flavours of the wine.
