Clos du Soleil's home in the Similkameen Valley is a hidden gem of the Okanagan. Clos du Soleil produces Bordeaux style wines from the small appellation. Similkameen averages about 200 ft. higher elevation than the rest of the Okanagan, giving slightly cooler nights, giving their wines great acidity. Also, on average, days are 3-4 degrees warmer than other areas in the valley, allowing ripening of even the toughest of varietals. The winding Similkameen River, a tributary of the Okanagan River, cuts a path through the mountains, giving rise to a warm, arid terroir with a wide variety of soil types where many Bordeaux varietals to be found. Enjoy within a couple years at 8 C.
A beautiful pale-gold in the glass.
The nose of this wine immediately envelops the taster in ripe fruit aromas of grapefruit, apple, pear, and ripe lemons, with notes of gunflint and the beautiful floral notes of lilac in full bloom.
On the palate the wine is full bodied with a rich mouthfeel, incorporating flavours of ripe apples and pears, complex layers of citrus including characteristic varietal flavours of grapefruit, as well as a subtle hint of oak.
