Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot
Recently the winner of Best in Class in the Meritage Blend category at the 2017 Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, the Quintissential is described by the winemaker as an "iron fist in a velvet glove". We love this wine, it is a premium offering for Church & State, and worth every nickel. Bordeaux-style belnd, or 'Meritage' of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc, sourced from the Black Sage Bench Vineyards of Rattlesnake, Sun Ridge and Coyote Bowl. Only 475 cases were produced! We have not featured any wines from Church & State in packages, but we full endorse you indulging in the Quintessential - you won't be disappointed. Enjoy by 2020 and serve at 18 C.
Dense and dark in colour, almost opaque plum at the core.
Ultra-black cherry and cassis aromas complexed by notes of coffee and baker’s chocolate.
The wine spends 22 months in French oak, 30% new. On the palate, there is dark concentrated black cherry fruit and gorgeous tannin structure producing great richness and length, but with impeccable balance. This wine is the epitome of the term ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’.
Deserving of an intimate meal of deep and rich flavours, prepare braised or stewed lamb and rustic root vegetables.
