La Mirada Cabernet Sauvignon is produced by Righteous Muse; this wine producer finds inspiration through creating simple, yet delightful wines. With production in California, New Zealand and France, wines are produced to reflect the culture and place of origin. La Mirada was inspired by the Spanish translation of La Mirada which means 'the look', 'a glance', or 'a view' - a joyful but fleeting experience. Wine is intended to be enjoyed with food, friends and family and this translation is a reflection of time spent with loved ones. Experiences that may only last a moment, but joy that can be recreated. Although a well known varietal, here are some fun facts about Cab Sauv you might not have known: Cabernet Day was invented in 2010 on the Thursday before Labour Day Weekend, to express love for grape and wine! And in 1996, it was discovered that Cabernet Sauvignon is the child of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc! Enjoy within a year and chill lightly to 16-18 C.
Definitively the colour of bright, red apples, with medium opacity.
Bold and spicy nose that showcases peppercorn and menthol. There is a rich, black liquorice note, we think of those 'all-sorts' candies your grandma always had in a bowl. The fruits are stewed and lush, they round out all the kicks of spice. We find plums, raspberries and blackberries.
Impressively smooth and silky palate - which doesn't mean it is mellow. The boisterous nose is transposed into a creamy backdrop for sandy tannins and round acidity. French winemaker Mark Ferrier brings his Bordeaux inspiration, producing more of an 'old world' Cabernet. Hints of cedar dance with black plums and cassis, while red currant hits the front of the palate and drifts through the finish.
Incredibly versatile, we would keep this Cab on hand as our summer 'house wine', because it will match perfectly with burger night or prime rib!
