Chardonnay, Chardonnay Musqué, Pinot Blanc
VQA Niagara Peninsula, Ontario
We love how accessible the Vineland lineup of wines are - we always have a few bottles on hand, and are sure to keep the Chardonnay close by. Vineland also has a wine club, where members are treated to first releases of new vintages, exclusive wines every month, plus a list of benefits that include complimentary wine pairings with our Chef’s Creative Menu in our Restaurant. Listed as a Chardonnay, there is also lesser quantities of Chardonnay Musqué and Pinot Blanc. Chardonnay Musqué is an aromatic mutation of Chardonnay. This fairly unknown varietal is actually most common in Niagara Peninsula and New York's Finger Lakes. The name 'Musqué' refers to the pronounced aromas of a musky perfume. It produces a wine that is off-dry, with a Muscat-y aroma. Enjoy this wine fresh and in its youth at 8 C.
Soft, glimmering yellow.
Crisp and fresh, with stainless steel fermentation, there is no imparted flavours from oak presence, which allows all the fruit profiles to sing clearly. A summer-time Chardonnay for sure!
Vineland describes their Chardonnay, "This exceptional vintage is an unfettered, mature expression of a dry, hot growing season displaying fresh Spy apple, lemon and pineapple notes. Unburdened by any lashes of oak, the pure but quiet heart of the Chardonnay grape is allowed to shine through. Taking in the aroma, one can easily imagine sitting by a cool brook on a hot summer’s day with the essences of white peach, Bosc pear, and water dashed on a hot river stone wafting on the breeze. Supported by a bright acidity and subtle lees management, this wine has shoulders.....although elegantly splashed by warm sunlight."
A perfect summertime white wine, ideal for those light BBQ nights enjoyed outside once the heat of the day has worn off. From chicken to pork, and vegetarian options of grilled mushroom and black bean burgers.
