Profile

New Vintage! This wine was previously featured in the store, but is back by popular demand!

Case Paolin is more than just a vineyard or wine, it's a family affair. Started in the '70s by Emilio Pozzobon, now grandfather of the Pozzobon family, he purchased the estate where his father and grandfather worked as sharecroppers. Emilio has been fortunate enough to share his passion for wine with his three sons: Diego, Adelino and Mirco, who have now taken over the reigns.

A unique quality about the winery is that the two vineyard sites, while close in proximity to each other, are vastly different. One holds grey stones of the Belevedere plain that were once a river bed, producing a unique freshness in its wines. The other leaves your hands dyed red from the Montello soil. This iron-rich soil is the key to the complex and superb wines produced at Case Paolin. The Cabernet Veneto is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Cabernet Franc. This blend extends an unintentional ode to fathers and sons, as Cab Franc is the father to Cab Sauv. Enjoy between 16 - 18 C.

Look

Beautiful bright ruby core, lightening towards the rim, offering you a brilliant shade of violet.

Smell

Wild forest fruit of tart currants, juicy blackberries and freshly ripened raspberries. Secondary aromas of suede accompanied by a light eucalyptus scent. Overall, a pleasant vegetal fragrance lightened with fresh lilacs and large, fleshy red plums.

Taste

Very fruit forward with your first few sips offering bright forest berries - currants, raspberries and blackberries. The fruit gives way to a warm earth flavour reminiscent of a late night walk through the woods. The faint underlying taste of light pink peppercorns is a welcome subtlety. A nice grippy texture for mouthfeel without being overwhelming. With its youthful taste the possibility of cellaring could bring even more depth to this wine.

Pairing

Enjoy with a braised short rib pie, a perfect dinner for the colder months, partnered with a thick French loaf.
