You may have heard some mumblings about "natural wine" and been confused, don't worry, we were too! There's been a media focus on "natural winemaking" which really just means minimal intervention, no additional sulphur added, and organic or biodynamic farming practices. Good news, we already look for these characteristics when choosing wines for WineCollective, and Bodegas Aroa, located in Navarra, embraces all of those traits! A contentious issue that we've heard of through the years, is the topic of sulphites. While this is a naturally occurring preservative, some wineries do add sulphites (sulphur dioxide or SO2) to create stability in the wines for shelf life and shipping, however, there are more sulphites in the apple you ate at lunch than in your glass of wine! The additive SO2 can be found in lots of items (take a peek around the kitchen) but alas, wine seems to blamed as the biggest offender! Enjoy this natural Garnacha Blanca within a year at a slightly chilled temp of 10 - 12 C.

Look

Bright sunshiny yellow with undertones of glinty green hues.

Smell

Floral aromatics of white and orange blossoms are balanced by a wet stone, and flinty minerality. Ripe citrus zest and white stone fruit are warm, welcoming notes. Bright and fresh, you can smell the youthfulness.

Taste

The key is maintaining the perfect temperature - too cold mutes the notes, but too warm and the acidity is high, which can be a bit jarring. Lush notes of Meyer lemon, candied grapefruit and dried orange peel tickle the palate. Stone fruits like white nectarine and peach warm up the citrus for a rounder, and almost creamy feel. The acidity is high so get ready for some tingly gums! There's a greenness on the finish that ties it all together!

Pairing

Loving the idea of matching this with a warm, autumn salad. Crisp greens, cranberries, sunflower seeds, ripe heirloom tomatoes and a perfect piece of poached halibut on the side!
