One of the best parts about growing the 'Collective' (aka our amazing members), is that it allows us the opportunity to go out and find some undiscovered gems. This month's features from Ladybird, the Chardonnay, Cabernet and Red Blend, are all brand new to Canada and exclusive to you! We are thrilled to introduce you to this value-priced, but oh-so-delicious lineup of wine! The Central Coast is a perfect place to plant Chardonnay. The valleys that open to the Pacific Ocean, funnel cool air to the vineyards and create a cloud or fog that helps protect the grapes from intense sun and heat. This cooling affect provides us the necessary environment for elegant 'cool climate' varietals, like Chardonnay. As you get further inland, the vineyards are warmer and produce more tropical flavoured Chard, and are often best suited to more red varietals, this is where you find Cab, Zin, Syrah...etc. Extending from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, the Central Coast covers a vast land, and is home to 40 separate AVA's. There is great variety to be found here, so start exploring this divine viticultural area of California! A perfect bottle to toast to Spring, enjoy this year or by the end of 2020. Serve chilled to 8 C.
Warm, translucent yellow that switches between golden when it catches the light, and straw coloured at its lightest.
Soft and intoxicating aromas of fruits baked in the sun, white peaches, nectarine and apricot. The stone fruits are complimented by citrus leaf that offer freshness, and a lanolin perfume. As the wine warms in your glass we find a bit more tropical fruit notes like pineapple, and candied ginger giving a pop of spice.
The traces of the tropics from the nose escalate here, giving us a fuller version of paradise with mango, kiwi and papayas, which still intermingle with lingerings of the stone fruit. The acidity gives us a cleansing presence, but is best maintained with a good chill - so don't let your wine warm too much in your glass. Medium-light bodied and offering a soft finish with lightly bitter peach pit or almonds. We definitely call this a "Cali Chard" and we love it!
We know it's a trend, but that doesn't mean it isn't delicious - avocado toast! Build yourself a decadent (and somewhat healthy) brunch. Don't stop at the avo - top with bacon and tomato, or a fried egg, or maybe some walnuts and balsamic.
