Luigi Baudana is one of the smallest active wineries in Serralunga d’Alba, and the entire Barolo region. With only 2,6 hectares (6.4 acres) farmed in some of the prime crus of the village, this can rightly be considered a true garagiste producer.

Looking at the region of Langhe in Piedmont, in northwestern Italy, is nothing short of breathtaking. The rolling hills are like ocean waves with a back drop of the Alps. Throw in some castles and wine estates and it's truly spectacular. The region is known for Barolo and Barbaresco, both made from Nebbiolo, however Luigi Baudana carved out a piece for this delightful white blend.

With only 4 hectares to call their own, husband and wife team, Luigi and Fiorina's philosophy was always to produce top quality wines in minimal quantities. The estate has been producing wine for over 40 years, with sustainability always at the forefront. Handmade is an understatement, every stage of winemaking is done by hand, starting in the vineyard.

Seemingly a yard sale of varietals - Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Nachetta - this blend is thoughtfully put together to create, not only an unusual blend, but an excellent showcase of what Langhe can offer! Chardonnay takes up almost half of the blend (45%) providing a solid foundation for Nascetta (30%) and Sauvignon Blanc (20%). Rounding out the blend, Riesling (5%) really ties these varietals together for a perfectly lovely wine to help us transition from winter to spring. Enjoy today or hold for up to a year and serve at 10 C.

Reminiscent of fresh squeezed lemon juice, shiny clear yellow.

Aromas of ripe white stone fruit, green pear, cut grass and hints of wet stone. Tropical fruit notes linger in the background while married with fresh picked green apple, keeping it crisp. Notes of white flowers and orange blossom add a level of aromatics that remind us of spring breezes.

A delightful freshness greets us at the first sip. Green pear, white nectarine with a ripe pineapple acidity are complimented by the medium weight on the palate. The acidity is zippy, so keep the temperature in check, if too cold the palate may seem a bit abrasive. The Nascetta and Riesling play with each other highlighting tropical notes, grounded by a wet stone minerality. There is a greenness that lurks underneath the fruit, creating a slightly savoury character which is most enjoyable.

We are over the moon thinking about a beautiful filet of salmon seasoned with lemon pepper on a bed of hearty greens with spring picked vegetables. Looking for something with more oompf? An oven roasted chicken with brown crispy skin, rosemary seasoned potatoes and fresh asparagus spears.
