Fielding Estate Winery is nestled on Niagara’s Beamsville Bench. The Fieldings searched the Niagara Region for the perfect location and came across the cozy Beamsville location with the rolling hills and the awe-inspiring view of Lake Ontario. Curtis Fielding and his wife Heidi, lead the dynamic team who are passionate about winemaking and Niagara’s wine industry. When Curtis started farming, his goal was to grow the best quality wine grapes to supply the family winery with the crops to make a small batch of high quality wines. In the first five years of operation, Fielding Estate Winery was named one of Canada's Top 10 Wineries. Curtis and Heidi Fielding, along with Niagara born winemaker, Richie Roberts, have lead Fielding Winery to numerous awards in its short amount of time operating. Ever heard of the Grape King? In 2012-2013, Curtis Fielding was named the Grape Grower of the Year by the Grape Growers of Ontario, an accolade awarded to grape growers who exemplify excellence and sustainability in Ontario's Grape Growing Industry. Did you know that Conception was named after the Tufford Road Vineyard, which used to be a parking spot for lovers. As Fielding explains, "As it turns out, more than just great wine was conceived in our vineyards…". Crack open and enjoy today, but we have no expectations on what you may conceive during its enjoyment. Uncover the BBQ that has been in hibernation for too long, and enjoy a grilled feast with a divine Canadian wine. Serve at 18 C.

How it looks

How it smells

The 9 months in French oak give this special blend (44% Syrah, 34% Cab, 11% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec) a decadent nose that is ripe, juicy and intoxicating. A base of vanilla bean and cherry cola allow the bramble berries and plum a sweet stage to dance on. Think cherry compote and raspberry jam, accented with a warm spice blend.

How it tastes

The Red Conception is blended from two different estate vineyards, Fielding and Tufford Road, located in two different sub-appellations, Beamsville Bench and Lincoln Lakeshore respectively. Both are similar in their sun exposure and mineral character, but differ in their varying altitudes. The lushness experienced from the nose presents as a velvety, plush wine on the bigger side of medium bodied. We are impressed by how refined the richness is displayed, perfectly highlighting the cherry, raspberry and red plums with poised acidity that cleanses our palate. The flavours last long after your final sip.
