Viticultural practices included vertical shoot positioning, shoot thinning, cluster thinning, hand leaf removal and hand harvest. The Sketches Chardonnay expresses a wine far above the price point, with depth and richness, along with finesse. This wine is our 'go-to' Canadian Chardonnay for everyday entertaining. Enjoy within the next year at 8 C.
Soft, buttery yellow.
The bountiful nose is full of fruit and floral aromas, the winery describes as, "vibrant notes of red apple, honeydew melon and a hint of white flower."
Medium bodied and plush mouthfeel, 12 months in French oak gives a round and rewarding presence on the palate. Lively acidity brightens notes of baking spices and vanilla from the oak. Rich melon, apple and flowers continue from the nose. The finish is extensive with the notes of blanched almonds and honeycomb.
The winery suggests, "With its refreshing apple and melon notes, lush body and well-integrated oak, this medium-bodied Chardonnay pairs beautifully with seafood, poultry and richer vegetable based dishes. Try it with a seafood chowder, roast chicken with root vegetables or a spinach and butternut squash lasagna with a béchamel sauce."
