Every once in a while we find a wine that we just can't keep in stock. Our members love to explore new wines, but we can't blame you when you find a favourite and can't get enough. This is true for this wine, a previous vintage of the Héraldique Cuvée Prestige has been previously featured and sold out in record time! We have brought it back for you, and hope you enjoy it just as much!
The design of Héraldique's coat of arms is intended to symbolize a marriage of the traditional grape varieties of Southern France and the modern winemaking skills of the winery. The varied terroir of the Languedoc region, one of the largest wine producing areas in France, provides ideal growing conditions for a variety of grapes to thrive, allowing the production of high quality, exquisitely blended wines.
Each grape varietal within this aromatic wine was carefully tasted and individually selected, to create a delicious and complex blend that boasts full flavours of ripe, juicy berries. Each varietal was fermented separately in temperature controlled vats in Languedoc, then blended together at the Hallgarten Druitt winery in Pizay. If you still have a bottle of the 2016, we suggest a mini-vertical tasting with a side-by-side comparison. Drinking great already, however this wine can relax in your cellar for a few more years. Enjoy by 2022 and chill slightly to 18 C.
Deep cherry hue, with burgundy edges and a glistening reflection.
A great mixture of tart and ripe fruit flavours, from currants and chokecherry to ripe brambly berries of blackberry, raspberry and cherry. After the initial fruity fun, it gets a bit more serious with woodsy aromas and some herbal too. The sun-baked stones crushed thyme and rosemary remind us of French indulgences.
Again, there are lots of nuances to the flavours we find. We are definitely still in France, as we continue to enjoy herbaceous along with bramble bush fruits. An expertly blended wine which takes the best of each varietal, and equals an impeccably balanced and effortless wine. The mouthfeel is plush and soft, giving us a bit of heft on the mid palate just before we swallow. The finish is more mineral driven with lingering of the mild tannins and cleansing acidity.
An everyday wine that will elevate any occasion or meal. For the 2016 we suggested a cheese pairing, and we still think that it is the best match. Why not try an ooey-gooey homemade mac n' cheese and personalize with your favourite additions, from simple breadcrumbs to roasted tomatoes.
