Profile

When it comes to major wine-producing regions, few have gained the notoriety of Bordeaux, France. Accounting for nearly 1.5% of the world's total wine production, the world has an insatiable demand for that distinctive Bordeaux style. In fact, it's so loved that the Bordeaux blend has come to be one of the most copied blends in the world. That means there is a lot of exceptional wines to choose from, but we think we’ve found the perfect one. We’re incredibly excited to share this exclusive and unique Bordeaux red!

Château Sainte-Marie showcases their winemaking traditions with modern elegance to create an exceptional Right Bank Bordeaux. Located in the middle of the prime growing region Pomerol and neighbouring the equally infamous appellation of Saint-Émilion, their ideally oriented plots stretch across two hills with perfect exposure to the sun on some of the highest land in the Gironde départment. The distinctive quality of their wines results from the wide diversity of soils, terroirs, and meticulously cared for old vines — including plots of more than a hundred-year-old Semillon and Merlot vines. This icon is ready to drink now or will cellar easily for 7+ years. Let it breathe for at least 30 minutes before you enjoy at a cool room temperature of 16-17 C.

Look

Seductively deep, velvety, bright ruby and garnet tones swirling with a hypnotic blue tint.

Smell

An opulent bouquet of aromas bursts out of the glass, lively and outgoing as it unfolds. Opens nicely with vibrant, fresh and jammy red plums, raspberries, and cherries. Baking spice and herbal green notes faintly linger in the background, until dominated by bittersweet dark chocolate, rich with cacao.

Taste

The structured palate is surprisingly delicate on entry. Easy drinking and full-bodied with fine, sandy tannins are beautifully alive, but unassuming, as to not overpower any of the intricacies in the blend. Fresh under-ripened currants, boysenberries, and pomegranate intermingle with green peppercorn, smokey sweet tobacco leaf, black tea, and decadent dark chocolate. Sharp acidity completes this experiential wine that is masterfully balanced to enchant every wine enthusiast.

Pairing

Spice and simplicity will bring out the best of this wine. Savour it alongside a sumptuous peppery prime rib or get experimental and try it with smoked rosemary tofu with a fig reduction.
