If you've ever had Argentinian wine, chances are it originated in the region of Mendoza; an area that produces 80% of the country's wine with its 146,000 hectares of vineyards. Altamira is nestled in the slightly smaller subregion of Uco Valley (or Valle de Uco) about an hour South of the city of Mendoza. Laying at the base of the Andes Mountains, the Valley boasts some of the highest elevation vineyards, with some upwards of 5,580 ft! This dry continental climate receives little rain and boasts 300 days of sun that is tempered only by cooler temperatures in the evening and relies on the nearby Tunuyan river for irrigation.

Immerse yourself in the sunny rural vineyards with the Andes as your backdrop. While you're there, visit the nearby regions of Maipu Valley and Lujan de Cuyo. Drink now or cellar up to 5 years. Serve at 17 C.


Concentrated and opaque ruby core straight through to the edges with slight hints of deep garnet.


As soon as the cork pops, we are arrested by the delicious aromas that emanate from the bottle. Overripe red and black fruits like cherries and blackberries intermingle with a touch of chocolate and pastry. We also find subtle hints of olive tapenade, toasted herbs, and a peppery element.


Fruity but dry, with notes of raspberries, blackberries, and plums, that are concentrated — although not as prominent as the nose would lead us to believe. Instead, we are charmed by notes of chocolate and coffee that steal the show with a touch of vanilla custard from the oak. There is also a savoury touch of olive complimented by a hint of spice. Medium bodied with structured and chewy tannins, a generous acidity, and a finish that will not quit. This wine is meant to be savoured!


We love the idea of partnering this with a rib eye steak and some grilled vegetables like zucchini or baked potato wedges.
