Wine lovers everywhere are familiar with Bordeaux. With 111,000 hectares of vineyards, it has a reputation as a prestigious and prolific wine region producing wines of exceptional quality and value. 98% of the red grape varietals grown in Bordeaux consist of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc; the same varietals that comprise the Château Auguste Rosé!
Château Auguste's 30 hectares are located in the Entre-deux-Mers subregion of Bordeaux. Translating roughly to 'between two seas', this green and extremely fertile section of land is nestled between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. Winemaker Hubert de Boüard grew up on a Château and now represents the sixth generation of his family to pursue winemaking. Joined by Damien Landouar, who brings over 20 years of experience, these two know their wine! But don't be fooled, there is a lighter side to Chateau Auguste where the promote their wine as "the wine for those who take their fun seriously". Want to experience rosé a different way? Lively medium salmon core with bright and shining hints of pink at the edges.
A few swirls and we are reminded of summer days out at the park for a picnic. Juicy watermelon, and ripe strawberries and raspberries dance out of the glass joined by a refreshing tangerine citrus note.
We love the tangy red fruit of watermelon slices, strawberries, and raspberries that greet us on the palate. There is a delicate floral element of white cherry blossom. Light to medium bodied with a pleasant acidity with a stony minerality that persists from beginning to the end of the generous finish. Perfect for your next patio gathering, but make sure to get your share - this won't last long!
Easily enjoyed on its own, we also know this rosé would lend itself perfectly to seared salmon, duck, or rare lamb dishes.
