Encantado means "charming" or "lovely," and we can't think of a better word to describe this wine! Yecla, South-East of Madrid in Spain's high, arid central plateau. This area may not be familiar to most wine lovers, but if you're a fan of versatile, food-friendly reds, it will soon be on your radar. It's thought to be the original home of the Monastrell grape, and the region boasts a climate that is well-suited to Spain's beloved Tempranillo, as well as international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Encantador Tinto (tinto means "stained" or "tinted," and is used for most Spanish reds) is a thoroughly modern blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Syrah. The Tempranillo lends tart red fruit and a dusty earthiness to the blend, while the Syrah contributes body and a peppery spice. The result is a juicy, fruit forward blend that can be enjoyed now or in the next 3 years at a cool 18 C.
Bright, clear ruby red.
Classic Tempranillo notes of fresh raspberries, tart cherries, and cedar, with richer notes of figs and dates. There's a hint of old-world Spanish earthiness that grounds the fruit and adds complexity to the pleasant freshness.
Charming is right! Medium bodied, with plenty of fresh red berries and a juicy, mouth-watering acidity. The tannins are there, but they're soft and refined, making this an easy, anytime red that doesn't need food to blunt the edges. This blend is on the lighter side of medium, both in body and acidity. Fantastic with a slight chill as a summertime red.
Encantador Tinto is super versatile, and would be equally at home with a grilled pork tenderloin with sweet & spicy BBQ sauce, or with your favourite delivery pizza. If served slightly chilled, it would complement lighter fare like roast chicken or a cedar-planked salmon.
