La Perrière La Petite Perrière

Sauvignon Blanc

Loire Valley

12 Alcohol

Introduction

New Vintage! This wine was previously featured in the store, but is back by popular demand! Though grown throughout the world, Sauvignon Blanc from France's Loire Valley is a distinguished class on its own. Aided by the limestone-enriched soil and cool climate, Sauvignon Blanc thrives here. With a name derived from the french word sauvage — meaning 'wild' — this varietal is well over 500 years old. Known for its dry, tart style, Sauv Blanc is a classic white standby for wine fans. Traditionally unoaked, fermentation takes place in stainless steel drums and bottled young and fresh, to allow for crisp acidity and bold flavour. Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc is known for being very light bodied, medium-high acidity, with chalky minerality. Leaning away from the fruity side of the spectrum, this region's high-end offerings will have higher alcohol levels and light-medium body. Understanding its popularity and rich history, the Saget Family ventured far and wide to source the best grapes and land they could. The Sagets have been in the winemaking business for over three centuries! Their La Petit Perriére Sauvignon Blanc now stands tall as one of their flagship labels — for good reason. Best enjoyed between 7 to 10 C and by 2020.

How it looks

Clear and clean to the eye, with a pale straw colour and glistening lemon hue.

How it smells

A great medley of citrus, herbaciousness and sweet notes of ripened stone fruit and tropical delights. From lemon and lime zest, to juicy peaches and pineapple. The herby notes come across with fresh cut grass and wild meadow flowers.

How it tastes

The experience on the palate is bright and zingy, from the flavours to the texture. The acidity level is higher, which we note by tingly gums and salivating cheeks. Adding to the freshness is the squirt from fresh squeezed lemon, lime zest and the underripe flavours of pineapple. The wine flows across the tongue with hints of flinty minerality near the finish, kind of like licking a stone (if you've ever done that?). Crunchy green fruits, like apple and fresh pears give a base for bits of fresh herbs and capsicum.

Recommended food pairing

Keep it fresh on your plate, just like in your glass! This citrusy gem will go great with Greek dishes, or Mexican flavoured meals, try grilled mackerel or prawns, serve in a taco or on a plate with grilled veg and lots of oregano!
