Sauvignon Blanc, Torrontes
With Argentina's 2019 "Best Argentine Winemaker Under 40" at the helm, Lui Wines is a young wine brand producing an outstanding lineup of wines. At just 37, winemaker Mauricio Vegetti Lui is young himself, and has already earned an international reputation for his winemaking prowess. He has built the Lui label to include a variety of options grown over six vineyard locations in the Mendoza area. The Wind Blend in particular caught our attention, as it's full of great acidity, and plenty of youthful aromas and flavours. The Wind Blend name is itself a nod to Mauricio's love of windsurfing, which certainly shares a liveliness and intensity with the wine. The two grapes found in The Wind Blend are Sauvignon Blanc and Torrontés, the latter of which originates in Argentina. Torrontés works really well with Sauv Blanc and creates a beautiful partnership that pairs great with all kinds of delicious food. It'll be hard to pick just one meal to serve this one with! Serve at a chilled 7C now or in the next couple years.
A wonderfully bright, pale yellow with slight flecks of green, this white blend has a ton of enticing aromas. Slightly herbaceous with plenty of floral character, there is some sweetness from melon and grapefruit.
A lively blend of fruit, florals, and herbs - with just the right amount of intensity. You won't be overwhelmed by sipping this, but it's definitely strong enough to stand on its own. The slight herbaceousness of lime leaf and rose is met with ripe green apple, pear, and gooseberry. If you're a fan of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, we think this one will be a new favourite of yours.
Crank up the heat with a chickpea coconut Thai curry over your favourite rice or noodles. Top with fresh chopped peanuts and cilantro.
