Smell
The nose is a bit shy and reserved at first, but with a good swirl and some air, it opens up to reveal violets, deep plum, and raspberries. There is a waft of smoke, followed by hints of clove, singed sage leaf, and vanilla. Fantastic balance between earthiness and fruit.
Taste
Medium bodied, round, and silky smooth on the attack, which leads with flavours of raspberry and cherry layered over some darker blue fruit underneath. Soft, supple tannins give it a nice backbone, and a bright pop of acid keeps things fresh. The long, savoury finish will keep you thinking about the next sip!
Pairing
Keep it casual! Try with smoked brisket or a roast beef sandwich, or pair with hearty veggies like grilled eggplants, zucchini, and charred beets. This is a crowd-pleaser that will play well with just about anything!

Description
"Good wine to save the world" may sound ambitious, but it's the mission statement of Derrick Neleman, the man behind Spain's Bodegas Neleman. All of his wines, including Nucli Tinto, are made with the well-being of the land and people as a top priority. The care and attention shown in the winery comes through loud and clear. In fact, we loved his wines so much, we decided to feature two of them in WineCollective packages!
Sourced from an organic certified, limestone-dominated vineyard at 600 m in elevation, Nucli Tinto is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 5% each of Syrah and Petit Verdot to add structure and colour. There's no oak used at all, as it's both fermented and aged in concrete tanks, which allows the unique vineyard site and the freshness of the wine to shine. We also loved the attention to detail in the unique corks that Nucli uses for their wines - we won't spoil the surprise, but we will say that you won't need a corkscrew, so it's a perfect backyard picnic red! Give it a brief chill before opening, and enjoy now or over the next 3 years.
