A family affair, Mi Terruño is run by brother and sister Gabriel and Maria Eugenia Baigorria. While Gabriel manages the marketing, Maria is the head winemaker. The Baigorria family is not new to the winemaking industry. They first purchased vineyards in the '60s but only established their own winery in 2004. The wines are all created with the intention of highlighting key grape varietals from their terroir, or 'terruño'.
The Expresión is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, so you can truly appreciate this single varietal representation of the Maipù and Tupungato Counties within the Uco Valley. The winery itself is located in the San Roque district in Maipú County. The building was retrofitted from an old glass tile factory, combining the old charm with winemaking advances and technologies. The Uco Valley is home to some of the most exciting new wineries and is a region to watch. The combination of climate and soil provide optimal growing conditions. High elevation vineyards provide long and consistent ripening, with cool evenings to temper sugar levels, with the bonus of well-draining alluvial soils. Mi Terruño has a lineup of Expresión wines, we especially loved the Cab, but we highly recommend trying the Malbec too! Enjoy today after a light decant, or save until 2026 if cellared well. Serve at 18 C.
On point aromas full of berry richness and savoury delight, you can expect blackberry, blueberry, plum and currants. There is also notes of menthol, chocolate and campfire smoke.
Full bodied and packing enough weight to make you crave mealtime! The tannins are integrated but show strongly against the ample fruit profile. The berries carry from the nose, and we have more red fruits that show on the palate. The smokiness transitioned nicely from the aromas and provides a consistent flavour from start to finish. Although strong in personality, this has defined elegance too!
Charcoal-grilled skirt steak served with chimichurri would be perfect with this bold red, or try with a hearty vegetarian chili! This is a bold wine that can handle bold flavours, but don't go too spicy!
