Governors Bay

Sauvignon Blanc

Marlborough

12.5 Alcohol

Introduction

Marlborough is known as New Zealand’s largest wine region. This region has two mountain ranges and the Wairau River, creating the perfect climate for growing world class grapes. Starting in 1973, commercial wine making in the Marlborough region quickly grew in popularity and by 1985 it gained International recognition for Sauvignon Blanc, which some wine writers claim to be the best in the world. Governors Bay is a family run winery that started in 1987 starting with just three hectares of vineyards. Over the years, they have expanded their vineyards to a few grape varietals and they are located in the heart of the Marlborough region. They are a part of the Sustainable Winegrowing NZ program which works towards conservation of the land and through the whole wine making process. This program is Internationally recognized and one of the only certificates that a winery in New Zealand can receive. The Governors Bay Sauvignon Blanc is a classically beautiful example of the flavours and freshness you can expect from a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. This Sauvignon Blanc should be served chilled at 8 C, and is ready to drink now till 2023.

How it looks

How it smells

This wine is fresh and inviting with a full nose of tropical fruits, and citrus. Sauvignon Blanc's signature grapefruit is the star of the show, but there are also notes of sweet mango and pineapple. This has us longing for summer afternoons lounging in the back yard!

How it tastes

The wine is light, crisp, and has a fresh acidity and balanced alcohol. It's as extroverted as you'd hope from a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, bursting with flavours of lemons, melons, tropical fruits, and some grassy notes. It finishes dry and brisk, making it the perfect aperitif wine, ideal for pre-dinner snacks!

Recommended food pairing

With the fresh fruit and acidity of this wine, it will pair perfectly with seafood (especially shellfish), and vegetables like asparagus, and goat’s cheese.
