Smell

This wine has a lot going, right from the very first sniff, with ripe yellow apple, citrus, peach, honeysuckle, pear, orange blossom, pineapple, and a subtle note of thyme. It's hard to not keep putting your nose in the glass!

Taste

On the palate there is a subtle but pleasant, prickly texture when first sipped. This wine is lean and racy with an abundance of fruit - lemon, pears, orange blossom, and pineapple. It also displays flavours of chalk, wet stones, and saline. It is so fresh and well balanced. Think Sauvignon Blanc with a bit more richness.

Pairing

To start, try with tabbouleh, mussels in white wine, or a salad of arugula and goat cheese. With mains, try risotto, poached halibut, or sautéed clams.

Description

If you've had Soave's Garganega, you've tried Grecanico Dorato - it's Sicily's name for the grape! This varietal is one of the most widely-planted in all of Italy. Mandrarossa's example is fresh and vibrant - a great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc. The Grecanico Dorato is a native white variety that recalls the aromas of the land that created it. This wine expresses the scents and fragrance reminiscent of a lush and varied region.

Mandrarossa was founded in 1999 after more than 20 years of studying the terroir, and the Mandrarossa wines are the result of constant research, experimentation, and innovation. As a result, they represent a Sicily unlike its stereotypes. Mandrarossa wines come from what are considered to be the best vineyards in the area of ​​Menfi, located in the province of Agrigento. Sicily has always been a place suited for quality viticulture, and the Mandrarossa is no exception. Fun fact, this wine is suitable for vegetarians and vegans and is certified as carbon neutral.

This wine should be served chilled at 10 - 12 C, and is ready to drink from now until 2024.
