“94 Points: Wine Enthusiast 'Editor's Choice' Pinot From the Women Of Jackson Family!”
Celebrate the women in your life with this fantastic Pinot Noir from the mother- and daughter- owned Cambria Estate. The family behind Freemark Abbey, Verite, Siduri, and more showcase another example not only of their dedication to creating some of the world's greatest wines, but to a continued commitment to sustainable winemaking. Katie and Julia Jackson, along with mom Barbara Banke, began Cambria to highlight the potential of wines from the Santa Maria Valley. The region's proximity to the ocean and cool evening fog creates allows for one of the longest growing seasons in California, coaxing complexity and elegance from the fully mature fruit. The 2017 Julia's Vineyard Pinot Noir is a perfect expression of California Pinot with the right amount of coastal influence and warm sunshine. Developing layers of crunchy red fruits, backed alongside baking spices and slight mineral notes, the harmonious balance of acidity and tannin make this wine an no-brainer.
Bright ruby red with a pale rim.
Vibrant red fruit on the nose, with distinct aromas of cranberry, cherry and pomegranate, with background notes of dry earth, sweet baking spice and crushed herbs.
Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, with balanced acidity and fine-grained, well integrated tannins. Beautiful and harmonious with flavours of ripe raspberries, tart cherry and red apple skins. The finish is long and persistent.
A natural match with pork or poultry, but this would pair equally well with a lighter dish like a mushroom tart.
