Sean Minor's upbringing in the Midwest taught him agriculture and the value of hard work. Caring for the land and bringing the harvest to the dinner table has always been close to Sean’s heart, and winemaking fully celebrates this concept. After starting his winemaking career in California, he was recruited by a top winery in the Pacific Northwest, where he and his family moved to manage the estate. They were later lured back to the sun-filled California coast, where Sean grew his winemaking expertise. After identifying a gap in the market, namely that consumers were longing for wines that were easy to enjoy, were true to terroir, and didn’t break the bank, they founded Sean Minor Wines in 2005.
Since then, their family has grown and their business has evolved, but their dedication to producing quality wines at a fair price has remained. Since they don’t own their own vineyards, they work tirelessly with sustainable farms throughout California. Their solid relationships with wine growers help to ensure that they are able to acquire the best fruit. Sean works hard and plays hard, and he does it all for the love of his family.
This wine should be served at 16 C. Cellar from now to 2024.
This California Pinot Noir has a medium intensity on the nose and it displays complex and lovely aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, strawberry, dark cherry, violets, forest floor, and cocoa powder.
On the palate, there is a lot going on. This Pinot is medium-bodied and offers luscious flavours of dark cherry, blackberry, plum, floral notes, black tea, and charred oak. The integrated, bright acidity and spice helps provide a lengthy finish, framed by fresh fruit, focused minerality, and some surprising citrusy flavours.
This wine could be nicely paired with grilled teriyaki salmon, crispy duck pancakes with hoisin, or a broccoli-cauliflower pasta with tahini sauce.
