Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon
Pays d'Oc, France
Alc. 14.5 %
Over 20 years ago, it was love at first sight between a man and the land that is now the Domaine Belle Mare. The owner of the domaine fell in love with the land situated between the garrigue and the lagoon, as he is passionate about sharing the unique terroir with its wine drinking consumers.
This winery is located in the IGP of Pays d’Oc, which is a massive area on the southern coast of France. The region's winemaking history dates back to Roman times, but the area is also known for its progressive approach to wine production. Recently, the wines in the area are experiencing an exciting renaissance. In recent decades, they have shifted their production focus to wines of higher quality, and the region has become one of the most dynamic in the country, while also offering good value at the same time.
This wine would best be served at 18 C, and can be enjoyed now, or cellared until 2024.
This wine is quite intense on the nose, with aromas of dark cherry, ripe raspberry, blackberry, creme de cassis, and dried plum. The bouquet is rounded out with hints of licorice, and dried herbs.
This blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon has powerful flavours of ripe blackberry, dark cherry, prune, and spices. There are also hints of anise, as well as savoury, smoky, earthy influences. This is a medium-plus bodied wine with the tannins to match. The fruit-tannin-acidity is showing a wonderful balance on the palate.
Pair this juicy red with a charcuterie and cheese platter, a portobello ‘burger’, or a wood-fired pizza.
