Smell
Ripe red-fruit aromas burst from the glass of this vibrant Merlot, with notes of fresh cherry, red plum, and raspberry. There's a distinctively Italian savoury quality as well, with hints of dry earth, fresh-cracked pepper and herbs.
Taste
All the elegant fruit flavours from the nose are joined on the silky-smooth palate by flavours of blueberry, morello cherry, and fresh cranberry. The spicy notes come to life and offer black pepper, cinnamon, and an elusive blend of baking spices, circulating with a hint of black tea. The medium body is accompanied by a vibrant acidity and lingering finish that makes this an easy match for a range of dishes.
Pairing
Resist the urge to match with Italian staples, and instead switch it up and try this versatile red with char siu pork or Peking duck.

Description
When we heard that the new vintage of this WineCollective favourite was racking up critical acclaim, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to once again offer it as an exclusive feature! Merlot might not be the first grape that comes to mind when you think of Tuscany, but that will likely change after you try the newest vintage of Lavishio from Villa Poggio Salvi. The estate is located near Monteriggioni (a fortified hamlet dating back to the 13th century) in the heart of Tuscany. Lavischio refers to the river that runs through the Villa Poggio estate. The vineyard's south-west facing make it perfect for achieving ideal ripeness, and the grapes were hand-picked in mid-September. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by a brief period in barrel, the miniscule production of 500 cases is released to eager winelovers.
Enjoy at about 18 C over the next 3-5 years.
