Profile

Smell

For what's often considered a fairly neutral grape variety, this Chardonnay is anything but! Aromas of ripe peach and nectarine mingle with fresh cantaloupe, green apple, and just a hint of papaya. There's a floral note in the background, as well, reminiscent of apple blossom.

Taste

Medium-bodied on the palate, Avoir La Pêche presents flavours of ripe orchard fruit: think waxy pear, green and red apple, and peach. The finish is long and fresh, with just the right amount of acidity to complement the fruit. The lack of oak makes for a refreshing wine that will pair well with a variety of dishes.

Pairing

Chardonnay can be an incredibly versatile food wine - try Avoir La Pêche with roast poultry, or contrast the wine's bright acidity by pairing with a creamy wild mushroom risotto.

Aromas and Flavours

Peach

Fuzzy peach candies, or real-life fuzzy peaches fresh from a fresh B.C fruit stand.

Nectarine

A soft, fruity aroma with floral undertones. Similar to a peach or apricot, but honey-heavy!

Melon

Sweet and fruity, with a particular flavour/scent that resembles persimmons

Apple

From Granny Smith to Red Delicious, apple makes for a delightfully crisp aroma.

Pear

A romantic picnic in the orchard, with your partner and their favourite white wine.

Description

"Avoir la pêche," (literally "to have the peach") is a charming French expression that means you're full of energy and feeling great - which is exactly what came to mind when we first tasted this Chardonnay! If you're in the ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) camp, this unoaked example of the world's favourite white wine grape might change your mind. Hailing from the southern French region of the Languedoc, the grapes are harvested just before their natural acidity starts to dip, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The finished wine retains all the ripe fruit notes you'd expect along with a balanced, refreshing finish.

Languedoc is a large region, and most of the area's wines are excellent representations of their grape variety and perfect for sharing with friends and family over lively dinners. Fruit-forward and made for early consumption, there's no need to cellar Avoir La Pêche: it's ready to be enjoyed now at a chilled 8 C.
