Musìta is located in Trapani, a province in southwestern Sicily, and just like the area, the winery is steeped in history. In the late 1800s Don Ignazio Ardagna planted his first vines of Catarratto on the slopes of Musìta, a hill so named by the Arabs. For generations, the family brought their grapes to the local cooperative, but the dream of producing wine that truly expressed the potential of the vineyards slowly took hold. This dream became a reality in 2004, when the family purchased a defunct cooperative winemaking facility. They carefully restored and modernized it to start wine production under their own label. Today, the fifth generation of the Ardagna family owns around 50 hectares of vineyards, planted with indigenous varieties such as Cataratto, Grillo and Nero d’Avola, as well as international grapes such as Chardonnay and Syrah.
Musìta focuses on retaining elegance and freshness in the wine (no mean feat considering the hot, dry Sicilian climate). This organically-farmed Syrah is packed with varietal character and has a distinctly Italian charm. Serve this wine at 18 ºC and drink between now and 2026.
