Brimming with typical Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics of cassis and black cherry, along with pipe tobacco, white pepper, and spice. With air, sweet paprika and clove begin to emerge, along with vanilla bean and hint of menthol.
Fully bodied on the palate, with velvety tannins supporting an abundance of ripe black fruit flavours. Blackberry and black cherry are to the fore, and the long, dry finish echoes with flavours of black cherry, liquorice, and tobacco smoke. Harmonious and pure, this is a great example of Argentinian Cabernet.
Hit the grill, and serve this with staples like a fully loaded bacon cheeseburger or a classic steak sandwich with onion rings on the side.

As longtime fans of Argentina's Bodegas Casarena, we were eager to taste the wines from their newest label, Areyna. The quality lives up to the high standards of their previous releases, so we jumped at the opportunity to offer them as exclusive selections for WineCollective members! Headed by esteemed winemaker Micheal Rolland, Caserana produces impeccable wines from Argentina's signature grapes.
Here, in Lujan de Cuyo, just south of the city of Mendoza, vineyards are planted in the rain shadow of the Andes, where vines thrive in a hot, dry climate. The altitude of the vineyards provide reprieve from the heat, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and retain beautiful acidity. Cabernet Sauvignon is just as well suited to this terroir as the country's signature Malbec, and this is a prime example! Enjoy now at about 18 C, or cellar for the next 3-4 years.
