Château des Moriers is a small, 7th-generation family-owned estate producing wine in Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent, two of Beaujolais' most prestigious crus. Production is minimal - a total of only 5,000 cases spread across 12 releases. Their Moulin-à-Vent is sourced from 80-year-old vines, which provide remarkable concentration in the finished wine.
If you've never come across this appellation, Moulin À Vent is one of Beaujolais' ten named crus, or communes, singled out for producing exceptional expressions of Gamay Noir. Each cru has its own distinctive character, with Moulin À Vent being considered the most full-bodied in style, with wines of greater concentration and ageability. You won't find much in common with the widely-known, simple, and fruity Beaujolais Nouveau. Instead, these are distinctive wines, some of which can be cellared for upwards of 50 years.
This remarkable 2014 release is ready to be enjoyed now and will continue to age gracefully for the next 3-4 years. Serve at about 16 C.
