Profile

Smell

Dark fruit aromas such as blackberry and cherry play together with distinctly herbaceous notes and a touch of bramble. There’s a clear backbone of cedar and graphite, signature notes of careful barrel aging that add depth and complexity.

Taste

This Cabernet Sauvignon packs a lot of flavour, with a core of blackcurrant and red plums. The acidity is bright and there’s a long-lasting aftertaste thanks to sweeter undertones brought on by the ripe tannins. A vibrant, precise, and elegant high-altitude wine.

Pairing

Selada is a great match with anything off the grill, from stuffed bell peppers, to italian sausage, to a perfectly-seared steak.

Aromas and Flavours

Blackberry

A little sweet, a little tart, this black fruit is rather quiet but persistent.

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Jam

Spreading grandma's homemade jam on your morning toast (yes, the bread was homemade too).

Licorice

Childhood memories of fighting over the black Jujubes, or avoiding them altogether...

Graphite

The smell of the first day of school with your brand new freshly sharpened HB pencil.

Description

Mendoza, and in particular the Uco Valley, is known for its flagship grape Malbec. Cabernet Sauvignon is sometimes featured in blends, but in this wine it has a starring role. It demonstrates that Mendoza is optimal for the darling international grape variety too, especially in the hands of a skillful winemaker such as Osvaldo Selada. He works for more than 15 prestigious wineries in the country, and all of his wines score high marks in international wine contests.

In his Winemaker Selection, a series of limited-production wines, Selada is looking for the unique expression of a certain area, following his father’s words, “A great wine starts with finding the ideal vineyard site.” He seems to have found it in the Paraje Altamira, at a whopping 1,100 metres above sea level. At these altitudes, grapes develop thicker skins and more pigmentation, which leads to a greater concentration of aromas, flavours and tannins in the wine. Maturation in small oak barrels enhances these characteristics, giving the final result elegance, structure and plenty of personality. Serve this wine at 18 ºC. Enjoy it between now and 2026.
