Black and blue fruit aromas are the star of the show in this wine, with hints of blackberry jam, blueberry pie, and ripe black cherry. There's a distinctive note of fresh-cracked black pepper, along with some sweet pipe tobacco, that lingers behind all that ripe fruit.
Brugnano's V90 Nero d'Avola is full-bodied and soft, with sweet, ripe tannins that carry through to the long, lingering finish. There's enough acidity to keep things balanced and energetic, and the flavours echo the nose, with plenty of blueberry, blackberry, and cherry. The dry finish is peppery and firm, but the soft tannins make this as suitable to enjoy on its own as it is to pair with food.
Try pairing the wine's bold flavours and restrained tannin with Feijoada (traditional Brazilian black-bean stew) served over rice, or match with grilled pork chops.
A little sweet, a little tart, this black fruit is rather quiet but persistent.
Eating handfuls of berries straight from the bush, your fingers stained purple for days to come.
Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!
The smell of a freshly rolled cigar, slightly sweet, and earthy - just like Grandpa's hugs.
A whiff of a freshly used pepper grinder - spicy and fresh, without the itchy nose.

Brugnano is a small family-owned winery located in north-western Sicily and run by brothers Francesco and Giuseppe Brugnano. Their tiny (less than 4 acres!) farm is planted primarily to native grape varieties, through which Sicily's unique viticultural environment can be expressed. The island's wines are enjoying an upsurge in interest and popularity recently, so if you're new to Sicilian wines, this is a great time to dive in and explore! And we can think of no better place to start than Nero d'Avola, Sicily's most important grape variety.
Named after the town of Avola (the grape's name translates to "black of Avola") on the southern end of the island, Nero d'Avola draws frequent comparisons to Shiraz for its ripe, sweet tannins and distinct peppery notes. This example from Brugnano's V90 range is unoaked, allowing the character of the grape to shine. Serve this juicy, full-bodied red at about 18 C and enjoy over the next 3-5 years.
