Smell
Aromatic and expressive on the nose, with green apple, lime, and pear, complemented by notes of melon and pineapple. A floral note emerges with air, but the overall impression is that of ripe orchard fruit with a hint of citrus and tropical richness.
Taste
If you're typically not a fan of Chardonnay, this blend just might change your mind! Vermentino is a fantastic complement to Chardonnay, lending refreshing acidity and minerality to Chardonnay's fruit-driven weight. The absence of oak makes this bright and vibrant, with plenty of juicy fruit flavours and just a hint of citrusy zest.
Pairing
This is a natural pre-dinner sipping wine that doesn't need food, but it will pair beautifully with light salad courses or simple fish or shellfish dishes.

Tenuta Il Poggione's claim to fame, aside from their outstanding wines, is that they were one of the very first wineries to market Brunello di Montalcino in the early 1900s. Founder Lavinio Franceschi recognized the region's potential for great wines, and dedicated himself to modernizing and improving local agricultural practices. Today, his successors Leopoldo and Livia carry on that tradition of innovation and pursuit of quality.
Like most wineries dedicated primarily to red wine production, Il Poggione's white wine production is small, but receives the same care and attention as their acclaimed reds. This Bianco di Toscana (literally white wine of Tuscany) is a blend of Chardonnay and Vermentino. Grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and fermentation takes place slowly in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to preserve acidity. The final blend is vibrant and refreshing, perfect for warm weather!
