Italy boasts a wealth of delicious, refreshing white wines made from a wide array of indigenous grapes, and Terre di Mario Bianco is a perfect example. Hailing from Abruzzo, on Italy's Adriatic coast, Terre di Mario Bianco is a blend of Grillo, Fiano, and Chardonnay. Eagle-eyed observers may recognize producer Progetti Agricoli's name - this is the same trailblazing winery behind longtime member favourite Pattini Chianti. Much to our benefit, Progetti Agricoli produces wine throughout Italy, with a consistent focus on quality and representation of place.
While Chardonnay provides some body to this blend, it's the native Italian grapes Grillo and Fiano that are the true stars of the show. Grillo (one of Sicily's principle whites) contributes a vibrant pop of citrus and a salty, mineral tang, while Fiano offers a waxy texture, appealing nuttiness, and the potential to age. Combined, these three grape varieties create a blend that's quickly become one of our favourite new aperitif wines, perfect for summertime sipping. Serve at 8 C and enjoy over the next two years.
