Made and produced by the wine famous Antinori family, the vineyards are situated at the foot of the Andes mountains in a little town called Pirque, in the Maipo Valley of Chile. This region is renowned for producing quality grapes, and Haras de Pirque Galantas is a perfect expression of it’s homeland. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2016 and have passed the CERES organic certification program. Only natural yeast made from materials in the vineyard are used in the winemaking process as they wanted the wine to be a true expression of the place it comes from. The label contains a jockey on a thoroughbred horse and the winery building itself looks like a horseshoe, the Antinori family loves their prized horses and created a winery as a symbol of their favourite horse racing sport. The winery is built on a slope that takes full advantage of gravity to press the musts and aid the fermentation process with minimal intervention. This unique technique helps prevent oxidation and protect the wines and can produce softer tannins. Made from 85% Cabernet Franc and 15% Carmenere this is a rare wine not often found but the unique climate and soils in the vineyard make it possible to create. Serve now or in 8 years from now at 18 C.
