Profile

Smell

Herbal and grassy aromas that remind you of walking on a freshly cut lawn on a beautiful summer day. With bright floral and garden aromas of violets, lavender and wild orchid.

Taste

Well-structured with bold tannins and black fruit flavours of dark plums, blackberry, black currant, cherry, and a peppery note abound on the palate. This Refosco has a long and elegant finish with a nutty characteristic of sweet almond and walnut on the finish.

Pairing

Pair with corn polenta, hot Italian sausage, pizza or your favourite Italian salami.

Aromas and Flavours

Strawberry

A sweet, almost caramel-like aroma reminiscent of your favourite juicy, red berry.

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Nutmeg / Cloves

Think of the holidays - a warm and woody spice found in your favourite baked goodies.

Licorice

Childhood memories of fighting over the black Jujubes, or avoiding them altogether...

Herbs

Your windowsill herb garden gives off a lovely herbal smell every time you walk by.

Description

Sandra De Giusti is a passionate female entrepreneur who took over the Terre Di Rai winery from previous generations of winemakers. Sandra is devoted to keeping the winery in the family and plans to pass the torch to her three children in the future. These vineyards have been around since the ancient Roman empire and were once ruled by nobility prior to being taken over by her family. The vineyards are home to a couple of historical sites. The Castle of Rai still stands along ancient Roman trails on the vineyard site, along with the ancient monastery of the Annunziata. Despite being attacked during the region’s many wars, and hit by lightning strikes and several floods in the region, these historical sites remain intact and are a reminder of the region’s history. Sandra is dedicated to preserving these pieces of history, along with the entire winemaking process. She is in control of everything from how the vineyards and historical sites are managed, to how the grapes are grown, and how the wine is made, down to the bottling and labeling process to ensure that her wines are made with the greatest quality and that her land’s history is remembered. Drink now or in 5 years from now at 18 C.
