Profile

Smell

Loaded with classic orchard stone fruit aromas on the nose, with plenty of ripe peach and nectarine, along with a hint of under-ripe pear and golden apple. There's a floral note, as well, reminiscent of apple blossoms. The overall impression is fresh and summery.

Taste

Medium-bodied and fresh on the palate, with consistent flavours of peach, apricot, and nectarine. The acid is wonderfully balanced, providing just enough citrusy freshness to complement the sweeter fruit flavours. Finishing dry and bright, this is a great patio wine that will complement a variety of dishes.

Pairing

This pairs beautifully with food that has a bit of heat, so try serving with chicken korma, pad thai, or choo chee basa (a mild red curry with fish).

Aromas and Flavours

Pear

A romantic picnic in the orchard, with your partner and their favourite white wine.

Nectarine

A soft, fruity aroma with floral undertones. Similar to a peach or apricot, but honey-heavy!

Peach

Fuzzy peach candies, or real-life fuzzy peaches fresh from a fresh B.C fruit stand.

Herbs

Your windowsill herb garden gives off a lovely herbal smell every time you walk by.

Apple

From Granny Smith to Red Delicious, apple makes for a delightfully crisp aroma.

Description

Gascony (Gascogne in French) is a rare outlier among wine regions in the southwest of France in that it mainly produces white wines. The area's most famed export, Armagnac, holds the answer to this mystery: since Armagnac is made from white grapes, it's only natural that the region's table wines are as well! There are eight white grapes in total permitted in the region, with most wines being a blend of at least two. In the case of Domaine Denis Tastet's Trinquet, the blend is Colombard and Gros Manseng. Plots are harvested and vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel before being blended together to create the final wine. Denis Tastet's vineyards have been in his family for over a century, and he now holds 62 acres of land in the Gers, in the heart of Gascony. Farming is done in accordance with a method called lutte raisonnée (or "reasoned fight"), avoiding the use of any chemicals in the vineyard unless deemed absolutely necessary, and prioritizing organic methods and overall vineyard sustainability. This wine should be enjoyed now or over the next two years and served at a well-chilled 8 °C.
