Profile

Smell

This Nebbiolo starts off with a brilliant purple floral bouquet with inviting black fruit aromas. It has beautifully complex aromatics with savoury, earthy aromas further characterized by black pepper and baking spice.

Taste

The wine is fresh and lively with ripe black plum, blueberry and pomegranate that leads into a savoury mushroom and herbaceous, earthy quality. Grippy tannins make for a great structure and bold flavours that dance on the palate with a well-integrated black pepper note and a touch of vanilla on the finish.

Pairing

Pair with artisanal Gorgonzola or Taleggio cheese, arancini, rabbit stew or porchetta roast.

Aromas and Flavours

Cranberry

Sweet and tart, just like the cranberry sauce at your family's Thanksgiving table.

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Herbs

Your windowsill herb garden gives off a lovely herbal smell every time you walk by.

Tobacco

The smell of a freshly rolled cigar, slightly sweet, and earthy - just like Grandpa's hugs.

Rose

'A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' We should all stop and smell them more often...

Description

In 1999, Giorgio and Maria Grazia realized their dream of fixing up an old farmhouse and starting a winery, giving life to La Trava. Focusing on a method of simplicity, the Grazia family keeps to traditional farming methods with minimal environmental impact and is dedicated to respecting the land that has produced fine grapes for many years. They kicked off with their first vintage of Moscato in 2000. When daughter Manuela took over the winery's management in 2010, she devoted herself to preserving the integrity of traditional grapes grown in the area and introduced La Trava’s first vintage of Nebbiolo in 2011. The family has since expanded operations planting additional grape varieties such as Favorita, Arneis, Dolcetto and Barbera but keeps their original Moscato vines as a reminder of how the family operation started. Typically used in Barolo and Barbaresco, this Nebbiolo is made in a younger, more approachable style. Drink now or over the next 5 years at 18°C.
