Oregon has now firmly established itself in the world of wine as one of the top regions to make high-quality Pinot Noir. The Willamette Valley especially has the right combination of soils and climate that make Pinot Noir, notoriously finicky thought it is, right at home. So popular is the grape in this part of Oregon that it accounts for 70% of total plantings! Soléna Estate is located in the heart of this beautiful valley, and the small, family-owned winery has been making outstanding Pinot Noir since they launched in 2000. Owners Laurent and Danielle Andrus Montalieu gifted the property to one another as a wedding present, and named it after their daughter.
Their Grande Cuvee Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from their Yamhill-Carlton and McMinnville AVA estate vineyards, along with grapes sourced from other iconic single-vineyard sources throughout the valley. It's a fantastic introduction to both Oregon Pinot Noir in general and Soléna Estate specifically. Enjoy over the next 5-8 years at a cool 16 C.
