Smell

Brambly red-fruit notes, so typical of Sangiovese, are joined by hints of red plum, tomato leaf, and dried herbs. Faint tobacco notes contribute a smokey component, and there's a distinct note of black tea that adds depth and complexity.

Taste

Medium-bodied and round on the palate, with a nice balance between tart red fruit and savoury spice. This is an elegant example of Chianti, with good length through the dry, savoury finish.

Pairing

Red fruit flavours? Check. Bright acidity? Check. Don't overthink it - match this with Bucatini all'Amatriciana, pasta pomodoro, or a sausage and pepper pizza.

Villa Montorsoli's example is made from grapes fermented in a mix of concrete vats and temperature-controlled stainless steel to retain freshness and aromatics.
