Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley
Black Sage and Osoyoos, collectively, make up a wine-growing sub-region of the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. The warm, dry climate here is well suited to the production of concentrated red wines from the Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The area stretches north from the Osoyoos Lake (which straddles the border with the US state of Washington) for around 15 miles (25km). The region of Osoyoos lies around the northern parts of the lake, while the Black Sage Bench runs up the eastern side of the steep Okanagan Valley. The Golden Mile, a separate wine-growing region, can be found on the western slopes of the valley.
Intense aromas of black currant, raspberry jam, spice and hints of cedar and vanilla.
Smooth silky tannins with long lingering blackberry and cocoa notes.
Perfect with beef, lamb, red pasta sauce, pork, milk and strong cheese.
