WineCollective has had the pleasure of working closely with Schug Estate in 2015. Earlier this year, we introduced two Schug WineCollective Cuvées, for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Sauvignon Blanc was not featured in any recent packages, though the quality and deliciousness of the wine did not stop us from making it available to members. Owners Walter and Gertrud's appreciation of wine came early in life as their fathers both managed estates in Germany. Walter and Gertrud moved to California, where he worked at several large producers while living in St Helena, Napa. Walter later worked with Joseph Phelps, creating the iconic Insignia. We were deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Walter Schug, in October 2015. May all future vintages be a tribute to him and his great work in California wine. Enjoy the Sauvignon Blanc in the next two years at 7 degrees Celsius.
Soft yellow with light green flecks.
The Leveroni Vineyard, south of Sonoma, contributes the unique floral aroma of the Sauvignon "musque" clone. Bouquet of nectarine and grapefruit zest with trading minerality.
Expect bright tangy acidity and slight touches of spice. Lush fruit flavours of melon, honeysuckle and grapefruit with floral character. Flavours are enhanced by creamy richness due to aging on the lees.
An ideal accompaniment to a wide range of soups, salads and shellfish dishes.
