Introduction

Wishing to combine both his love of wine and golf, Calgarian Lee Hanson started up his own passion project, 7 Iron, in conjunction with AWD Cellars. The connection is obvious on the label, but the meaning goes deeper. Just like the dependable 7 Iron in your golf bag, Lee wanted to produce a wine that would be the ultimate go-to. Most wine enthusiasts think Cabernet Sauvignon when dreaming of California, however, Chardonnay is actually the most planted varietal in the state. In 2014, California crushed 718,000 tons of Chardonnay! You can only get California wines of quality at this price with careful sourcing and great relationships. The Chardonnay was sourced from vineyards in Lodi, Delta and Clarksburg. Take advantage of Lee’s hard work finding the perfect fruit to be your next everyday easy-drinker and enjoy! Serve by the end of 2016 between 8-10 degrees Celsius.


How it looks

A shiny and bright yellow colour, consistent from core to rim.

How it smells

Give your glass a swirl to plump up the soft aromas. The nose is rather tropical with plenty of fresh pineapple, citrus peel and golden and green apples. The malolactic fermentation is apparent with a creamy nuance, similar to yoghurt.

How it tastes

Drinks significantly better when chilled. Too warm and the wines falls flat on the mid-palate and the alcohol picks up. Great mouthwatering acidity, crisp and bright with a silky mouthfeel. The same, tropical citrus characteristics appear on the mid-palate, especially the pineapple.

Recommended food pairing

Greek flavours will love this wine! Herb-rubbed chicken with flavourful lemon rice.
