Domaine of the Bee was started in 2004 by Master of Wine, Justin Howard-Sneyd. During travels to France's southern Languedoc-Roussillon region, Justin was convinced that the Maury area was the ideal place to craft his wines. Unavailable anywhere else in Canada, we are thrilled to present this wine to members! We have secured the last of the 2010 vintage, produced by Richard Case, who notes "2010 was a great year across most of France, but in the Roussillon, things were a little trickier. A smaller than average crop, and quite tough skins, but once again, very intense flavours." Grenache was harvested from both Bac de Genievres and Coume de Roy vineyards, with Carignann from La Roque. Visit the WineCollective blog to learn more about our two newest exclusives produced by Justin, Domaine of the Bee and Hart of Gold. Enjoy decanted at 16 degrees Celsius before 2018.
Deep plummy core with ruby edges.
Brooding with black fruits and spicy undertones. The aromas grow as the wine opens, be sure to enjoy slowly and experience the plum, vanilla, cocoa dust and garrigue earthy-ness.
"This is a turbo-charged, super-ripe, smooth, rich and complex wine. Layers of powerful dark plum and damson fruit and spicebox aromas of vanilla and cinnamon." Full-bodied, layered and decadent! Be prepared for rich flavours of dried earth, seasoned cigar box, ripened plum, vanilla, cinnamon, and herbs. Tannins are thick, but smooth. The finish is a mouth-full of dusty fruit and spice.
A match for grilled meats and BBQ, or pair with hard cheeses.
