Introduction

WineCollective members are getting Canada's first taste of Master of Wine Justin Howard-Sneyd's Hart of Gold. Composed of Champagne varietals, 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, Justin says the quality of English Sparkling wine is finally challenging Champagne houses. This was confirmed when Hart of Gold received a Gold medal at last year's International Wine Challenge. The sparkling wine is produced out of Ridgeview in Herefordshire, UK, which Justin says due to global warming, is the same climate as Champagne, 30 years ago. Serve at 6 degrees Celsius within the year.


How it looks

A lovely pale gold in colour, with a persistent stream of fine bubbles.

How it smells

A combination of citrus and stone fruit with rich toasty notes.

How it tastes

Complex flavours of refreshing citrus, alongside distinctive toastiness are underpinned by balanced acidity and a long mouth-watering finish.

Recommended food pairing

A perfect aperitif. Pair with smoked salmon crostinis, salad rolls, nuts and olives.
