Profile

Description

The family behind this winery can trace its history back to 1789. Initially, the family were farmers and winegrowers, passing down the knowledge from generation to generation. In 2013, brothers Gwenael and Benjamin inherited 26 hectares of land from their parents which increased their vineyard holdings to slightly more than 451 hectares. Located in the heart of the Muscadet appellation around the village of Monnières, the estate is known for its commitment to quality and sustainability, producing an exceptional range of wines. The soil here is famous; flinty sand with generous amounts of marl-limestone over clay which is known to produce bold flavours. The vineyards are beautiful, with cover crops of rye, vetch, and red clover planted between the rows of Melon de Bourgogne, the traditional Muscadet varietal. These cover crops provide a natural fertilizer for the vines and promote healthy soil life. Grapes are harvested at night to retain freshness and preserve their delicate aromas. The grapes are gently pressed and the processes that follow are under extreme control in order to preserve the juice and avoid oxidation. The juice is cold settled and fermentation is taken at a lower temperature. The resulting wine is generous in its freshness, light and lively with nuances that are crisp, flinty, and fruity with a hint of floral elegance.
