Profile

Description

Domaine Zinck is a winery located in the Haut Rhin department in Alsace, between the renowned terroir of the region Eguisheim and Gueberschwihr.  The family has been making wine for over 4 generations and today the Domaine is run by a tiny team of 7 very passionate people. Zinck has been certified biodynamic since 2021.  Biodynamics is at the forefront of the operation.  Current owner Philippe Zinck says, "Wine is born from the earth in which the vine is rooted. Biodynamics viticulture helps to develop life in the soil and strengthen the vine's immune system." Philippe saw his grandmother practise biodynamics in her garden and saw the evidence of consistent practise, so when he took over the winery it was a natural fit to transition the vineyards to biodynamically farmed. Everything is hand-picked and the extreme attention to detail is present in the glass.  The Pinot Noir used to produce this Crémant Rosé are located on the slopes of Eguisheim, Alsace, a region renowned for its silty soils which gives wines delicacy and finesse. The terroir also contributes to the balance between freshness, elegance and character.  The wine has rested on its fine lees for 15 months giving a silky, refined edge.  The traditional method is used for the creation of this wine.

Pairing

Chilled shrimp cocktail, fried chicken, double cream Camembert

Aromas and Flavours

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Mint

A touch of sweet and cooling herbal flavours, think gum, but without the intense menthol

Raspberry

Tangy or sweet, juicy or tart: more sophisticated than a strawberry, but just as lush.

Chalk

Remember cleaning the erasers by smacking them together, creating little puffs of chalk dust?

Strawberry

A sweet, almost caramel-like aroma reminiscent of your favourite juicy, red berry.
