Profile

Smell

Beautiful floral perfume of fresh lavender and violets delight the nose with a sweet fresh hay note. Ripe black fruit aromas fill the air with a nicely lingering peppered and baking spice note that makes you want to take a sip.

Taste

A beautiful melody of balance and flavour. Well-structured and full-bodied with perfectly integrated tannins that lead into ripe blackberry, cherry and raspberry fruit notes. Eucalyptus and sweet tobacco develop on the mid-palate with hints of vanilla and baking spice on the long lingering finish.

Pairing

Pair with red meats such as venison, beef tartare, lamb in mint sauce or a vegetable ratatouille.

Aromas and Flavours

Raspberry

Tangy or sweet, juicy or tart: more sophisticated than a strawberry, but just as lush.

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Plum

Sweet, fruity and sensual, similar stone fruit aromas to a peach, but without the 'fuzziness'.

Tobacco

The smell of a freshly rolled cigar, slightly sweet, and earthy - just like Grandpa's hugs.

Cedar-oak

An intriguing mix of clove, sandalwood and resin - the smell of your favourite wooded trail.

Description

Lise and Philippe Raguenot started their winery back in 1967. Inspired by the unique geology of their vineyard site, they decided to plant only grape varieties that were best suited to the soil composition. They started with only 15 hectares of land, which has now grown to 70 hectares planted to various grape varieties, but still kept their vision to make wines expressive of the land they are grown on. Now run by daughters Emmanuelle and Marie-Pierre, who took over the operation in 1997, the winery has since gained international recognition, earning over 100 awards. They are committed to biodiverse farming methods and creating wines free from added sulphites and additional refining methods. The winery achieved the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification in 2012 and continues its commitment to protecting the vineyard’s natural surroundings. If you are ever in France, the winery also offers cottages for guests who want to book a tour and stay the night. Drink now or in 4 years from now at 18°C.
